Wait, we aren’t free from viral infections!

Granted Covid-19 numbers have declined. And life is hurtling back to normal in Dubai. Unfortunately, that means we are being exposed to more viral infections and the flu, besides Covid, as more people move around, and all public establishments return to full capacity. With winter turning into another blistering hot summer, accompanied by sandstorms, it’s natural to see a spike in respiratory illnesses, particularly among children and the elderly.

Depending on our immunity levels, chances are we might pick up a viral infection. And the symptoms aren’t pleasant. Body fatigue, heavy head, dry cough, runny nose and sneezing can make us miserable.

Why more children are falling sick

Healthcare professionals claim they are seeing more children falling sick. There might be several factors for this. These can be traced to their sedentary lifestyle, particularly due to the restrictions in place during Covid, addiction to gadgets, and the high consumption of fast foods. Moreover, with schools reopening, it’s natural to see illnesses spreading among students, particularly if they aren’t following good hand hygiene.

Lack of exercise and poor eating habits, increased screen time, and erratic sleep patterns have impacted children’s stamina, making them easily tired. Usually rectifying these, will lead to an almost immediate improvement in children’s energy levels and mood.
