Various techniques such as a SWAN analysis help you replace negative thought patterns with positive motivating ones. SWAN stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Ambitions and Needs. By listing these out we begin to identify those aspects in our character that help us and those that hinder our progress. The next step is how to play to one’s strengths while working on areas of weakness to reach our dreams.

3.     Working on our minds always helps in cultivating a sense of equanimity within. Ancient yogis spent years trying to reach a state of mind where the joys of life would not send them to dizzying highs and the miseries of life into doldrums. Both have their place in life and were received and accepted with grace and balance. Although we might not achieve this mental attitude, it’s worth aspiring towards. Along the way we cultivate patience and fortitude. It’s difficult to sway people with such temperaments. They are able to stay true to their principles, and weather the trials of life often bouncing back quickly from upsets.

4.     A balanced state of mind helps in all aspects of our lives. Whether it’s the work front or the home front, relationships and friendships, life seems to work out more smoothly. It’s not that such a person has no problems, but they are able to live through them, their characters acquiring more depth, sincerity and strength.
