The teachers of Pratimoksha
When a company asks who will be teaching its staff, or a family in Dubai asks who will come to their home each week, the answer at Pratimoksha is a name, a face and a set of qualifications. Every teacher on this page is a full-time member of the studio team. The studio does not fill its timetable with freelance or rotating instructors, so the person who meets a new student in the first session is the same person teaching them months later.
That was a deliberate choice by founder Lalitha Viswanath. Classical yoga has always passed from teacher to student through a steady relationship. A teacher who changes every few weeks cannot see how a student’s body, breath and habits shift over time.
What a full-time team means for students
- The same teacher follows a student’s progress from month to month and adjusts the practice as it changes
- Teachers train together under Lalitha’s guidance, so the classical approach holds whether a class happens in Oud Metha, a living room in Jumeirah or a boardroom in DIFC
- Therapy and recovery clients, including those preparing for or recovering from surgery, are seen by teachers who work closely with the founder
- Companies booking sessions for their staff get a consistent teacher, which counts for a great deal when a wellness program runs for months
The people behind every class
Lalitha Viswanath
Founder, manual osteopath and Yoga Acharya
Lalitha founded Pratimoksha and brings more than 20 years of teaching experience to the studio, treating yoga as a discipline of awareness and restraint rather than a fitness routine. Her background in manual osteopathy shapes the studio’s therapeutic work, and the team’s pre- and post-surgery sessions run under her guidance. Meet Lalitha
Sakshi Devi
Advanced asana teacher, yoga therapist and TTC educator
An international and Asian Pacific gold medalist in yoga, Sakshi brings competition-level precision to therapeutic work: prenatal and postnatal yoga, pre- and post-surgery practice, and one-to-one sessions. She also teaches in the studio’s teacher training course.
Nikita Chauhan
Yoga teacher, yoga therapist and TTC educator
Nikita holds a Master’s in Yoga (Yoga Acharya) from Rishikesh and a degree in psychology. She teaches Hatha, Ashtanga, prop yoga, pranayama and meditation, leads corporate sessions, and guides trainee teachers.
Dr. A. S. Pooja
Naturopathy physician, yoga therapist and wellness educator
With a BNYS degree and clinical experience across hospitals in Karnataka, Dr. Pooja combines therapeutic yoga with diet and lifestyle guidance, reflexology and Laughter Yoga. She teaches anatomy in the TTC and designs wellness programs for companies.
At the studio, at home and at work
The same team teaches in every setting Pratimoksha offers. Group and individual classes run at the studio in Oud Metha. For people who find it easier to practice where they live or work, private yoga brings a Pratimoksha teacher to homes and offices across Dubai. Organizations can book corporate yoga for their teams, and people who want to teach can train with the same teachers through the teacher training course.
Wherever the class takes place, the teacher is someone the studio knows well, trains alongside and answers for.
To find the right teacher for a home program, a corporate group or a first class at the studio, contact the team with a few lines about what you need, and the studio will suggest who is best suited to it.
